The Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (IECC) are public, two-year, community institutions serving students within eastern Illinois and from around the world. The IECC is comprised of four campuses: Frontier Community College in Fairfield; Lincoln Trail College in Robinson; Olney Central College in Olney; and Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel. Each campus offers two year transfer and career-preparation courses leading to the Associate Degree, and one-year occupational programs. All IECC students benefit from services including academic advising, personal counseling, and career planning. International students are offered orientation, housing assistance, English as a Second Language training and other special services. There are numerous opportunities for extracurricular participation including Student Government, special interest organizations, drama and music clubs, and active International Clubs providing events and activities to all students. Intercollegiate athletics, and intramural sports, are scheduled for both men and women students. The Illinois Eastern Community College campuses offer comprehensive academic and technical/vocational facilities and include administrative, student service, food service, and recreational facilities. Each campus is supported by, and serves, the communities that surround it, resulting in a positive atmosphere in which IECC students may study and learn.

The Illinois Eastern Community Colleges schedule a Fall Semester (mid August through mid December); Spring Semester (early January through mid-May); and Summer Semester (early June through early August).

Students must earn at least 64 credit hours to receive the Associate degree.

  • Official academic records with certified English translations (secondary and post-secondary)
  • Certification of Finances (Bank Statement)
  • TOEFL score of 500 (for admission into full-time, regular academic programs)

International students are encouraged to apply at least one month in advance of registration to allow ample time for immigration processing, application processing, and other arrangements.

All students are assessed in their English proficiency upon arrival. A TOEFL score of 500 or the equivalent will allow admission to academic courses; however, students at any TOEFL level may be required to enroll in one or more English language courses (ESL). Any student who does not meet the minimum English proficiency requirement will be enrolled in an intensive ESL program.

Spouses of Illinois Eastern Community College students are welcome to attend classes if they meet all admission and financial requirements.

The Small World Child Development Center on the Wabash Valley College campus offers a developmentally appropriate program for young children from ages three to six. Olney Central College offers Our Cozy Corner for care of children of Olney College students. Children between the ages of two and fourteen are welcome. The faculty and administration of the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges provide support and assistance in all matters of importance to international students.

Both Wabash Valley College and Olney Central College offer active International Clubs promoting understanding among students from around the world.

All campuses provide information on housing accommodations within close proximity of their campuses. Wabash Valley College and Olney Central College also offers Host Family accommodations to international students who wish to live with an American family while studying in the U.S.

Climate: The IECC area has four seasons with distinct temperature changes. Temperature from 0 degrees Fahrenheit in December to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in July.

Geography: The four Illinois Eastern Community Colleges are located in the eastern portion of the state of Illinois. Each campus provides comprehensive academic, administrative, laboratory, technical and vocational, and recreational facilities on spacious and attractively landscaped campuses.
